Safe medication administration training
The Medication Awareness & Administration course gives staff a clear understanding of medication legislation, safe handling, and the responsibilities involved in supporting individuals with their prescribed treatments. It covers the legal framework, GDPR requirements, why people take medication, the forms and categories of medicines, PRN use, the routes carers can and cannot administer, common side effects, safe storage, administration rules, boundaries, covert administration, and the 7 Rights of Medication. The presentation also explains how to administer oral, topical, patch, ear and eye medications safely, highlights risks with specific drugs such as warfarin, and stresses correct documentation, disposal procedures, error prevention, and the importance of reporting mistakes openly and promptly.
